Persian and Central Asian artisans, often associated with Sufi scholars, played a pivotal role in introducing and shaping Kashmir’s handicrafts. Our name, Persian Dowry, is an homage to the fact.
Celebrating over 50 years of Kashmiri handicrafts, Persian Dowry was founded with a passion to preserve India’s timeless crafts and keep their legacy alive in the modern world.
Persian Dowry began more than five decades ago as a humble family-run business, born from a passion for authentic Kashmiri handicrafts. At a time when Kashmiri carpets, papier-mâché, shawls, and other traditional arts were admired worldwide, we dedicated ourselves to bringing these treasures to people across the globe. What started as a small enterprise soon grew into a trusted name in the world of Kashmiri art, built on authenticity, craftsmanship, and customer trust
From working with just a few skilled artisans in Kashmir during the 1970s, Persian Dowry has grown into a leading export house for Kashmiri handicrafts. Our journey has been one of resilience and transformation—not only for us but also for the many artisans whose lives are intertwined with ours.
Through decades of challenges, including curfews, unrest, and long shutdowns, we have remained committed to one principle: genuine Kashmiri art will always find its place in the world. This dedication has earned us recognition and awards from institutions such as the Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry, along with the loyalty and trust of customers across continents. Today, we are proud to expand our legacy by opening our world to you digitally.
